What are Veneers?

Veneers are one of the most popular and effective dental treatments available today. They are thin, custom-made shells designed to cover the front of teeth to improve their cosmetic appearance and often correct a wide range of cosmetic issues. They are very technique-sensitive and specially designed to create your ideal smile. They are made from porcelain so they look and feel very natural, and can be done in a single visit or over a few visits.

At Purity Dental, we aim to provide the latest techniques, personalised care and premium materials to carry out these procedures and restore confidence in every smile. If you’re interested in improving the look of your teeth with veneers, schedule a consultation with us today. We can help you achieve the confident, healthy smile you deserve.

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are bonded to the surface of teeth and are a long-term aesthetic solution. Porcelain veneers are known for their strength and durability. Requiring little preparation of the teeth, they can be used to improve cosmetic appearance by masking discolouration, chipping, poorly-shaped or crooked teeth.

How are veneers applied?

Our experienced dentist will minimally prepare the tooth to allow for the thickness of the veneer to sit flush on the tooth’s surface. Occasionally, a local anaesthetic is used during this part of the process.

Porcelain veneers are then designed and custom-made in-house or at a dental laboratory. After ensuring everything is correct, the tooth is cleaned and the veneer is cemented into place.

We can help you create your ideal smile with veneers.

Am I a suitable candidate for veneers?

Most people are suitable candidates for dental veneers. Veneers are a cosmetic process, and will not correct severely misaligned teeth, overbites or underbites, however. Veneers also need healthy teeth to attach on. Any decay or gum disease must be treated prior to the attachment of veneers.

Some common reasons people may have veneers for their teeth:

  • list icon Improve shape and size of teeth
  • list icon Mask discoloured teeth
  • list icon Restore chipped or broken teeth
  • list icon Correct uneven, crooked, misaligned or irregular teeth

To check your eligibility, schedule a consultation with one of our dental professionals so that we can assess and recommend the most suitable treatment for your dental needs.

Is there an alternative for veneers?

If your main concern is tooth discolouration, teeth whitening procedures can be effective in brightening the natural colour of teeth. This can be done either at the dentist’s office or with professional at-home whitening kits.

For more serious issues such as misalignment, gaps, etc you could opt for orthodontics. We highly recommend scheduling a consultation with us first to assess whether veneers are a suitable option for your needs, or to explore alternative treatments that might better align with your dental goals.
