Your Easy Guide to All on 4 Implants
Implants are the best go-to for people with missing teeth! Why? All-on-4 implants are designed to give our patients the full confidence of a beautiful, functional smile without having to endure a removable prosthesis like dentures! Developed many years ago, here’s everything you need to know about this dental treatment:
What is All on 4 treatment?
All on 4 uses the strategic placement of 4 dental implants to place a full arch of prosthetic teeth on both your upper and lower jaws. Comparatively, single, conventional implants each support an individual tooth. They are designed to be a long term restoration, with a natural feel and look. The implants are extremely durable, usually made out of titanium. The teeth are individually sculpted in our state-of-the-art laboratory to mimic your smile.
Who are the ideal candidates for All on 4?
We recommend this treatment for patients who don’t have a full set of functioning teeth and for patients who feel uncomfortable wearing dentures. For conventional implants, patients who have low bone density often have to undergo a bone graft before the procedure. In most cases, all on 4 implants can be placed without the additional process of bone grafting due to being inserted specifically on areas where there is sufficient bone volume.
What is the process for getting All on 4 implants?
During your consultation, our dentist will use 3-D imaging and X-rays for a thorough examination of your gums, teeth and bone density. On the day of your procedure, the dental implants will be inserted into the jawbone and temporary coping placed on top while the dentures, made in our laboratory, are prepared.
How long will recovery take?
The recovery period can vary from patient to patient. Most patients tend to adjust well after 3 to 4 days. We recommend sticking to liquid foods in the first few days and avoiding hard foods for several weeks as you adjust to your new teeth.
